PTO Meeting Minutes

 

Roll Call: TKay Began the meeting by having the PTO group to introduce themselves.

Approval of Minutes: We discussed and approved the last meetings minutes.

Meeting Schedule: TKay brought to a decision when our PTO meetings will be held, and we decided on the second Thursday of every month.

CHMS Open House: It was decided that an open house will be postponed until after the new year.

Recap Fall Carnival: TKay thanked volunteers, we discussed how it went, Christin brought up that we had more baked goods last year, $145 earned after expenses, more planning will be necessary for next year.

Account Balance: Mina stated that the PTO account has over 5K in it.

School Announcements:

Thanksgiving Break – The school will be closed and there will be no child care available Thursday November 22nd and Friday, the 23rd.

Poinsettia Fundraiser – Please have order forms turned in by Friday November 16th.

Donations for Lessons – Please donate household items that can be used for Montessori lessons: face cream pots, corks, Play Doh, things that can be used for sensory boards, leaves, and “tree cookies” which are narrow log segments.

Building Improvements – Over the course of the next eight months to a year we will be making many repairs and improvements to the school. We will start by replacing the outside class porch covering, making roof repairs to the main building, and putting up new sheetrock.

Hillcrest Caroling and Tree Lighting – November 30th @ 5:30, Hillcrest Promenade

Classroom Holiday Parties – The PTO will hire a Santa and have an elf in the classroom and take photos, date TBD.

 

Employee Appreciation Gifts: We discussed and decided on gift cards and ornaments; the ornaments TBD via CHMS PTO member vote. Kori is creating a google voting doc & we’ll get that out asap. (In the past $80 or $100 gift cards given to full time employees and $40 or $50 gift cards given to part time employees)

Box Tops: $85.00 earned for most recent batch turned in. We will collect all year and turn in twice a year.

Upcoming Events: *Domino’s PTO fundraiser – Beginning in the second week of January, will discuss at December PTO Meeting. *Book fairWe will have our annual book fair this spring instead of this fall

*Teacher appreciation week – Will be in the spring, dates TBD.

Fundraising Possibilities: 

Kona Ice risk free fundraiser 20% of total sales; look in to Montessori school promotion with other schools possibly.

Raise Kraze – We can consider this for a spring fundraiser. https://raisecraze.com

T-shirts – Reprint t-shirts after cost comparisons. Look in to bumper stickers.

Staff/Parent Communication Improvement: Work on minimizing paper waste- Zach Bohon could possibly create an app. We can streamline the welcome process by emailing all forms and docs. Include staff bios with welcome email, confirm preferred mode of contact. Make all families aware of all the ways to stay connected: On Facebook we have a school page and CHMS PTO page. If you would like to be added to your child’s private class page please let a staff member know and Caroline will do so. It was expressed that parents would like to see more photos of their children and we will try to be better about posting.
