Welcome to the PTO

The Children’s House PTO would like to welcome all new and returning students and families back to school!

For those who may not know, the PTO is an organization of parents and teachers of Children’s House Montessori school. The PTO’s goal is to foster a nurturing and caring environment that strives for continued parent involvement in helping build a better educational community for our children. We also promote a school community where teachers and students can do their best work with the resources we can provide and help make school a place of learning and fun. Through parent contributions and fundraising efforts, the PTO will be able to donate funds to purchase educational materials and equipment for the school.

You may be wondering just exactly what we do and what have we accomplished in years past? Well, to list a few, we:

  • have purchased a gate, playground equipment, picnic table and classroom materials.
  • have sent teachers to workshops.
  • provide the Lively Science Program from the Museum of Discovery for the students that are four and older.
  • provide the Tomorrow’s Child publication that each family receives throughout the year.
  • give gift cards for Christmas and daily displays of appreciation during Teacher Appreciation week to the staff.
  • provide funds for the wonderful Fall Halloween Carnival and Easter Picnic that everyone enjoys, especially the kids.

In years past we have raised funds via some type of fund raiser. Our largest every year has been the Silent Auction which has been successful in the past. However, over the past two years, the auction has not been as successful as we’d like. Because of this we don’t have the funds needed to continue to do all of the things we could do for the students and the school.

To remedy the situation, this year, we are asking parents to contribute $25.00 at the beginning of the school year and again in January made payable to the Children’s House PTO. Download contribution form »

For the PTO to be effective and truly representative of the school, it is essential to have parental involvement from as many parents as possible. There are endless possibilities in ways you can help. A simple note in the PTO folder upstairs with an idea or suggestion would suffice! Whatever your own level of flexibility, the PTO always appreciates parent volunteers, as does the teachers and staff. Be on the lookout for an upcoming Welcome Packet with more details about the year.

We would also like to have at least one parent represented at each of the PTO meetings, the 2nd Tuesday of every month. Please come along and join us - this is your PTO and as a member you can help us achieve our goals. We need your ideas and your energy.

We need you!

Thanks so much! We look forward to a wonderful and fulfilling school year.
