Director’s Letter

Dear CHMS Families,

Recent events in the news regarding the tragic allegations of child abuse at a local school havenaturally prompted parents everywhere to reflect on their own children’s safety.

We want to reassure you that we take this issue very seriously and we have protocols in place to help us ensure the safety of the children in our care.

As a faculty we are transparent, proud, and thankful for our wonderful teachers and aides. Most of our staff have been with us for 10+ years and our most recent hires were thoroughly vetted and have excellent references. These people care for our own children and grandchildren as well as yours. All staff members are required to undergo extensive checks during the application process. We require background checks from the State of Arkansas and the FBI, the latter of which requires fingerprinting. Those background checks are run at time of application and again every five years. We also require Arkansas Department of Human Services (AR DHS) Division of Child and Family Services Child Maltreatment Central Registry Checks both at the time of application and again every 2 years. Additionally, our school is licensed by AR DHS and is subject to random inspections which include staff file audits among other things. We also have achieved the highest state rating (Level 3) of Better Beginnings, a program of the AR DHS designed to improve the level of quality in childcare and early childhood education programs across our state.

Our hearts go out to the families, teachers, and owner of the beloved school that was betrayed by one or more of their own people. We grieve for any child who may have been harmed in this tragic occurrence.

Please know that we are mindful, diligent, and committed as always to keeping your children safe and happy while learning at school.

Respectfully,

Nancy Scott Owner/Director
