Masks Still Required

Dear CHMS Families:
With COVID-19 on the rise again and our state being considered a “hot spot” and out of an abundance of concern that we do everything in our power to keep our students safe, we are still requiring that all children ages 3 and up wear a mask while at school.
Please do not send them to school without their mask.  Additionally, we suggest that you send extra masks for your child’s supply bag to have on hand in the event that their mask becomes soiled.
Many students are regularly coming to school without a mask.  We will no longer provide free disposable masks.  Starting next week, we will begin to charge $1 per mask in the event that a child comes to school without his or her own and requires a disposable one.  The fees will automatically be charged to your account at the end of the month.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Re-Enrollment Packets

Dear CHMS Families,
Some of you returned your re-enrollment commitments back in April but not all.  We are needing those forms back ASAP as the information they provide will help us make classroom placement and hiring decisions for the upcoming school year. I have attached a re-enrollment packet to this email for your convenience.  Please complete and return to school as soon as possible.  If you need a hard copy, please let me know by replying to this email.  Forms can be emailed, faxed, or returned to your child’s teacher or aide.

Director’s Letter

Dear CHMS Families,

Recent events in the news regarding the tragic allegations of child abuse at a local school havenaturally prompted parents everywhere to reflect on their own children’s safety.

We want to reassure you that we take this issue very seriously and we have protocols in place to help us ensure the safety of the children in our care.

As a faculty we are transparent, proud, and thankful for our wonderful teachers and aides. Most of our staff have been with us for 10+ years and our most recent hires were thoroughly vetted and have excellent references. These people care for our own children and grandchildren as well as yours. All staff members are required to undergo extensive checks during the application process. We require background checks from the State of Arkansas and the FBI, the latter of which requires fingerprinting. Those background checks are run at time of application and again every five years. We also require Arkansas Department of Human Services (AR DHS) Division of Child and Family Services Child Maltreatment Central Registry Checks both at the time of application and again every 2 years. Additionally, our school is licensed by AR DHS and is subject to random inspections which include staff file audits among other things. We also have achieved the highest state rating (Level 3) of Better Beginnings, a program of the AR DHS designed to improve the level of quality in childcare and early childhood education programs across our state.

Our hearts go out to the families, teachers, and owner of the beloved school that was betrayed by one or more of their own people. We grieve for any child who may have been harmed in this tragic occurrence.

Please know that we are mindful, diligent, and committed as always to keeping your children safe and happy while learning at school.

CHMS: COVID-19 Policies

Dear Families,
Thank you for your patience as we have been working to update our COVID-19 Policies regarding masks and quarantining as it relates to the newly released CDC guidelines.  As you know, guidelines are recommendations and not requirements.  As such we have had the difficult task of making a final decision on what our school’s policy should be.  Please know that we take very seriously our responsibility to protect the health and safety of our staff, students, and families.  Additionally, we want to be careful to not put an undue burden on you.  Please review the updated policies as follows:

We will require masks to be worn by all students 3 years old and older beginning Monday, December 14th.  Please send extra masks for your student’s bag so they will have a spare if needed.

  1. For any student or staff who tests positive for COVID-19, we require a full 10 day quarantine from school.  Your student may be accepted for attendance on the 11th day from the positive test date if they have been fever free without medicine for 24 hours, without shortness of breath, and without uncontrolled bouts of sneezing and/or coughing.  If symptoms persist after 10 days, please contact the office to discuss.  We will need to re-evaluate and may require additional quarantine time.
  2. For any student or staff who has been exposed to a COVID-19 positive case, we require a full 10 day quarantine.  A COVID test will not be required. If the student/staff is not experiencing any symptoms after 10 days, they will be accepted for re-admittance on the 11th day from the first date of exposure.

Since this is a fluid situation, these policies are subject to change and be evaluated on a case by case basis.

Thank you in advance for adherence to these new policies.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding these policies, please do not hesitate to call.

Dear Families,

We are half way through our annual fundraiser.  Remember that all orders and payments must be turned in by Monday, November 30th.

New this year: We are accepting payments via VENMO!  We have found it will help immensely for those who utilize this payment option to indicate the CHMS family name to link the order/payment to in the note/memo section of their payment.  This will enable us verify receipt of all venmo payments.

If you did not get a copy of the order form, I have attached the informational letter and an order form to this email for your convenience.  If you prefer a hard copy, please request one at drop-of or pick-up M-F.

Have a great weekend!
